Education in 2020
I was bewildered when I entered the amazing era of 2020. The world around me has changed so much that it’s unbelievable that all this is true.
Today everything includes technology in it. Technology is used in schools, hospitals and every place which is frequented by humans. It’s used to make things simpler and to aid everyone in every way possible.
When I visited this school, I discovered that instead of humans, robots were being used to impart lessons. These robots programmed with artificial intelligence were completely enabled to answer queries raised by human students. What made me laugh was the fact that these robots were also capable of voice intonation like humans. They were able to raise voice at impertinent students and scold them.
Some of them also shared jokes with students which made the class burst with bouts of laughter.
These classes also had the latest facilities including projection screens. These screens were used to present lectures on slides which were both informative and short and hence grasped a student’s attention quite easily.
I went to different schools during my course of stay in 2020. So, every day I found out something new about the way technology was impacting lives in this era.
I had the great chance to visit this school where the students could experience archeological sites as a part of their lecture. The robots used to bring 3D simulated models of these sites to the class. When the students wore their 3D glasses, they got a glimpse of their glorious past.
The robots were also being monitored so that any of their performance gaps could be covered. Every one of the classes was digitally recorded through the webcams installed in the classes. Then these live feed was sent to the central station installed in each area.
Any lack in performance of a robot which could impact his quality of the lecture was simultaneously reviewed and rectified within a span of some hours.
Apart from the presentation in class, these technology improvised schools also have better organized syllabus. These robots have studied the subject in so much detail that they can also present successive course CDs to students at the end of every lecture. In one school I saw that John a robot handed out these course CDs to students so that they can come prepared next time they come to the class. The students could actually understand the subject matter without having to pore through the books by watching these CDs. When I looked at those students I was stunned at how well-prepared they were. However I got to know later that John’s CDs were the root cause of their extraordinary interest in the subject.
However I got the most amazing experience of my life in one school where students were actually being taught virtually. The syllabus had been revised and so there was some programming delay in getting the robot prepared as per the new syllabus, hence it was being delivered virtually by a “smarter“ robot. All the students were glued to their PC screens looking at this intelligent robot explain to them the basics of human brain with a fully simulated 3D model of the brain.
Some of the technological impacts also required some supervision. The students had to be continuously supervised for their use of the computers. Even after so much improvement in terms of teachers, as they were replaced with preprogrammed robots, some students continued to just surf internet on the computers. When such behavior continued to happen for days, a report was automatically sent by the system to the parents of these wards asking them to come to school.
The important thing was that since robots had entirely replaced humans, they humans were responsible for designing the robots and programming them with the appropriate teaching strategies and course curricula. I also visited the computer team of one of these schools. There I saw IT people preparing the software which was going to be used on these robots. The software was designed in such a way that there were several instructional patterns for different portions of the syllabus. Some of the portions had to be taught inside the class by just using projector slides, others had to be taught through use of fully animated simulated models.
The script which was to be used by robots for teaching a topic was carefully written so that it could be understood by a child. I know people who have faced trouble understanding what the teacher said in the class. However these robots made sure that the students could understand whatever they wanted to tell. I guess times have surely changed.

I am on spaceship now and pondering over whatever I have seen in that century, the faces of satisfied students. Well I am back in my class and looking at some of the bemused students I often wonder cant the technology of 2020 be brought to my time and space.
