How to configure Gmail SMTP account on any email client?

Gmail is one of the most popularly used email clients these days. You want to however access these emails or send emails through other email clients such as Microsoft Outlook. Now how to do that, how to make Gmail your outgoing mail server or SMTP for your Outlook account. It’s very easy, You have to configure Gmail as your SMTP(Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) SMTP  is the mail protocol that is used for transferring emails between different networks. You have to follow these simple steps for configuring your Gmail server as the SMTP server.
1. For this, enter the outgoing server address of Gmail as smtp.gmail.com.
2. It will also ask for the outgoing port address which depends on which layer protection protocol is being used by you, SSL, or TLS. Both are different network security protocols. TLS stands for Transport Layer Security. It provides security in activities carried over a network. There are many different activities carried out over networks such as web surfing in which case you go to the address of the server through a browser. Without a network security protocol such as Transport layer security, your computer can be hacked through the server. Secure Sockets Layer is another such protocol. So, coming back to configuring a Gmail server port address, you have to enter 465 when SSL is the network security protocol used or 587 when TLS is used.
3. Other details required are your username and password, the option to “Use Authentication”, and option to “Use Secure Connection”. In the options, “username” and “password”, you have to add your Gmail username and password respectively. In the option “Use Authentication”, add “yes”. And under the option “Use Secure Connection’, also add “Yes”.
Why my Gmail account is not working
Gmail SMTP can cause problems when you have recently changed your password. In that case, you need to configure the Gmail server account all over again.
If you are using the Outlook app, and have set the 2-step authentication process, problems can also occur when you are not entering the app code. Make sure you enter this code when starting the Gmail SMTP server.

Another reason why the Gmail SMTP not working is not updating the Microsoft email account. Make sure you allow the Office updates to update your Outlook application. Another reason is that your Microsoft email account might be checking the emails quite frequently i.e. every 10 minutes. Reduce this period because this can restrict your Gmail account from Microsoft. So, this is how you can configure your Gmail account easily on Microsoft Outlook.
